About Norwich

Norwich is a city in New London County, in southeastern Connecticut. It sits where the Yantic and Shetucket rivers meet to form the Thames River, and is nicknamed the “Rose of New England.” The settlement was founded in 1659 around what is now the Norwichtown Green, and the city was incorporated in 1784. At the 2020 census it had 40,125 residents.

Norwich is made up of several distinct neighborhoods, each with its own character: Norwichtown, Bean Hill, Yantic, Taftville, Greeneville, Occum, East Great Plains, Thamesville, Laurel Hill and Chelsea, the original downtown.
